Shakespeare and Authorship : Elizabeth Winkler at work

Shakespeare or the invention of tradition

There is no proof that Shakespeare was a literally man (two of his daughter were illiterate) ; his own alleged education at a local grammar school (Stratford-upon-Avon) does not explain his huge knowledge of Latin, French, Greek drama, philosophy ; his amazing knowledge of continental history is puzzling…

Unlike Bacon or Marlowe, there is no knowing how that Shakespeare (the one we all know without really knowing him - all biographies on Shakespeare are called "fictional"  - became a writer...

Therefore, was Shakespeare on whom one will find no proof of his having been an author… a pen name or a scam or a committee of various writers who did not wish to be named ?

Is Shakespeare a ghost ?

To raise that question will trigger a deep animus ; no scholar will take that question into consideration nor attempt to answer it.

One person did : Elizabeth Winkler who is a journalist and book critic.
